I got an awesome email the other day.
On October 24, 2004 I wrote one of my earliest blog posts. It was about my obsession with this Hindi rock-n-roll song. Hereâs the whole, very short, all lowercase post in its entirety.
on the ghost world dvd in the special features there is clip from an old Bollywood movie from the 1965 called Gumnaam. itâs 5 minute version of a song called âJaan Pehechaan Hoâ as performed by Ted Lyons & His Cubs. iâm officially on the prowl for music / videos by them or by bands that sound this this. a. maze. zine.

Then, the other day, almost a decade later, I got an email from Prateek Sharma from Sagar, India who had just recently found my old post.
Hey,
I was searching through the web for some old SJ (Shankar Jaikishan) songs and accidently fell upon your blog. In case you are still officially on prowl for similar songs, I can suggest you a few. Just for a note, Ted Lyons and his cubs were just the performers, they never composed any music in any of the film they appeared. Jaan Pehchaan Ho was actually composed by one of the greatest Indian Music Composer Duo âShankar-Jaikishanâ.
Here are some songs I suggest you to give a try. May be they do not all fall in a single genre but these are some western type hits from 60s. (You will excuse my English, I am not a native speaker)
