Reasons why I think "Gemfile" is silly:
A: It's a file. We don't call "vendor" "vendorfolder" (or "vendordirectory)
2: it's capitalized

So what I'm hearing from many people is that it's called "Gemfile" because other things did it that way. Seems silly to me.
